Journal Criticism 4
This article raises questions about whether everybody is affected by ‘youtubization’ of society because of the socioeconomic and technological capital to be part of it. I find this criticism of this idea true because not everybody is subjected to YouTube because of their social background (finance, ability to use a computer etc) therefore it is not necessarily changing the way of teaching and advancing the ways of traditional learning. YouTube isn’t a recognised academic source so it doesn’t carry any significant weight in the academic world. Any lecture style teachings on this website won’t be taken seriously and therefore probably won’t make advancement in the teaching world. However, you could argue that E-Learning is similar to the teachings given on YouTube, but YouTube does not have a course or recognised grade at the end, so the lecture style posts could be more for interest or entertainment.
