Article 1 Abstract

This article discusses the fact that the news through various mediums has lost a remarkable number of young readers. The intention of this article is to find out by using the Delphi Technique why there has been a decrease in the number of young readers and what can be done to interest them. 28 students were used in the study to understand what needed to be changed in order for them to be interested in the news.

The findings conclude that in order for the younger generation to consume the news in future years the news companies must change how they aim the news at this age group. For example, the study found that this generation all had a handheld device, therefore the journalists need to converged mediums for the news to reach the younger audience. An idea discussed in this article is by converging networking sites like Facebook and MySpace with news feeds so the audience can be targeted directly. The audience can then be inundated with quick and frequent updates.
